A new G-SHOCK standard-bearer in the octagonal form
of the original model, but now in metal

In a modern update to the concept and design of
the first-ever G-SHOCK (DW5000) and the brand’s first analog model (AW500),
the GA2100 offers a slim, compact form, now in metal.
With its enhanced strength and still greater beauty,
we’re proud to introduce the metal-clad, octagonal GM2100.

Lineup

Ever evolving toughness:
Metal-clad shock-resistant structure

A stainless steel bezel with exceptional strength and inner case made of damage- and deformation-resistant glass fibre-reinforced resin safeguards the module. Tiny protrusions on the inner case reduce surface contact with the bezel to cushion shocks to the module. Cutting-edge technology is applied to the original G-SHOCK concept of hollow construction to deliver a shock-resistant structure with a metal exterior.

Octagonal form
exudes toughness

The bezel adopts the octagonal design motif the G-SHOCK has featured since the very first watch. Undergoing painstaking processes of forging, cutting and polishing, the bezel is precisely crafted — from its intricately shaped face to the form of its back, which is the key to the precision fit it makes with the inner case. A round hairline finish is applied to the top surface and a mirror polish to the sides, giving the bezel a beautiful gleam.

Minimalist beauty of form:
Wafer-thin design

We achieved shock resistance with the bare minimum case thickness by adopting a metal-clad shock-resistant structure. Optimised, high-density mounting of the circuit board structure made it possible to slim the module even further. The result is an exceptionally slim design for an analogue-digital combination model with a metal case and a comfortable fit on the wrist.

Casual flair:
Textured band

The watch's urethane band employs a minutely detailed square dot texture. Sophisticated molding technology was used to achieve textural intricacy with incremental variations in dot size. A slide lever makes it easy to attach and remove the band.

Meticulous detail:
Dial with metallic vapor deposition

Mirror and hairline finishes are applied to the surface of the dial to achieve texture fitting for a metal model dedicated to maintaining a meticulous level of attention to detail.

IP colors with individual character

The watch is offered in a choice of three colours: silver, which accentuates the hard texture of the metal (GM-2100), along with dark blue IP (GM-2100N) and dark grey IP (GM-2100B) options. These classy colours elevate the watch to true fashion item status.

The new style G-SHOCK

1983: DW-5000

The very first G-SHOCK — the DW-5000 — debuted in 1983. Its timeless design, perfected right from the beginning, was born of a pursuit of the ultimate toughness eschewing all hints of the extraneous.

1989: AW-500

A design concept soon inherited by the first analog G-SHOCK model — the AW-500 — released in 1989. This concept was realized with a rock-solid design that looked almost like it was carved out of a single block of resin, removing everything non-essential.

2019: The GA-2100

The first GA-2100 watch was introduced in 2019, expanding the possibilities of toughness and analog style. Heir to the DW-5000 and AW-500’s conceptual design frameworks, it leveraged the latest technologies to capture the essence of their identities in a new physical form. This meant nothing short of creating a new standard-bearer for G-SHOCK, re-envisioned from the vantage point of the brand’s beginnings, now some 30 years after the AW-500’s debut.

New Technologies, New Design

The development concept: slim and compact. The determination to eschew the extraneous realized not just in design, but in size as well. It took revolutionary new technologies — from the thin module to the Carbon Core Guard structure — to achieve this. Distilling the very essence of the original DW-5000 design, the watch introduces a reconstructed form that is sure to integrate smoothly with contemporary lifestyles and fashion.

Paris, Hamburg, New York and Shanghai... impressions gathered from points all around the globe informed the design work. Countless sketches were made, and designs drawn and reviewed in a process of painstaking trial and error. At last a new watch was born, featuring a minimalist design with an octagonal bezel.
