The face is accented in yellow, green, and red, the national colors of Hachimura’s ancestral home, Benin. The bridge plate has been treated with vapor deposition for a metallic finish.

Signature logo

Signature logo

Hachimura’s signature “Black Samurai” logo, based on a design that his mother drew on a paper napkin, is engraved in several places. The symbol 八 (hachi in Japanese, meaning “eight”) represents both his name and jersey number. The design incorporates a Japanese sword that crosses the 八 hachi symbol, resulting in an additional “H” motif for “Hachimura.”

Unique band design

Unique band design

The model comes with two bands: one in classic black that accentuates the case color and a second in brown with a unique original design. A slide lever lets you swap out the bands with ease. The brown band features a cloth strap keeper in the national colors of Benin, and an all-over printed rendition of a traditional West African Kente-cloth motif produced via a special printing process. With black accents signifying freedom, the characteristic geometric pattern represents Hachimura and his global image.

RUI HACHIMURA

Hachimura began playing basketball in earnest in middle school. In 2019, Hachimura became the first Japanese national ever to be taken in the first round of the NBA draft, and joined the Washington Wizards.
