I am writing to express pleasure in being a G-Shock owner and a part of a fast-growing fraternity of extremely satisfied customers. The G-Shock is the best watch to have today -- it is tough, technical, utilitarian and stylish; a great bargain for the price.

I have had three Casio watches before I got my first G-Shock model, a DW-6900 and it was cutting-edge. Once during a flight physical, a medic seeing my watch blurted “That’s a Navy Seal Watch!” I couldn’t help but make up one of my best extemporaneous war stories and the watches’ help in my becoming “a real, genuine war hero.” The medic was in such awe that he wanted my autograph. Such is the power of G-Shock. My eldest son is a career officer in the U.S. Army and he has said the two most important personal items he had in Iraq were his G-Shock and his Leatherman. (He is another G-Shock aficionado). If we could do anything about it, we would designate the G-Shock as the official watch of the U.S. Military.

Eighteen months ago, I purchased two G-Shock watches; a model GW-300 and GW-002KA from the NEX in New London and wear nothing else. They are amazing. I especially like the countdown function because it has so many applications. The multiple alarm system is also great. As a person difficult to wake up, I set the alarm five minutes apart, which is a better method than relying on a basic clock radio. Other features I like are the hourly time signal and the ability to light the dial as I move my wrist a certain way.

I think my G-Shock is the “MacGyver of Watches.” As the Society’s technical advisor, my job is to help new members operate their G-Shocks, interpret instructions, correct errors and above all, set their DST function. After listening to some members talk about the models they recently bought, I plan to upgrade to the GW300A-1V model to stay current with my Atomic Society peers.
