Once a city largely unfamiliar with its place in hip-hop, Washington, D.C., and its suburbs have become a hotbed for some of the most avant-garde talent within the culture. Contained in its mix of different psyches dwells newly minted Motown signee Chaz French, a multidimensional polymath bred under the wings of locally based creative entity 368 Music Group.
By many accounts, French shouldn't be here; having preserved through near death and homelessness, the 24-year-old rising star is the epitome of absolute toughness - much like G-SHOCK's time-honored pedigree of hard-wearing watches. Adding to that is his city's fidelity to the brand: In D.C., owing your G-SHOCK is as much a part of your coming-of-age story as go-go music and half-smokes. Simply put, Chaz French shares many of the same traits as his favorite on-the-go accessory.
Recently, G-SHOCK and RESPECT linked up with Chaz to speak on his upbringing, musical history, being a father and what his crescendo fan base can expect next. This is only the beginning.
